Follow-Ups, Adjustments, and Ongoing Care

How your care evolves over time, including check-ins, medication adjustments, and support.

Your Care Doesn't End at the Prescription

Starting treatment is just the beginning. Best Balance provides ongoing support to ensure your plan continues to work for you as your body responds and your needs evolve.

Regular Check-Ins

After starting treatment, your physician will schedule follow-ups at key intervals:

  • First 4-8 weeks: Assessing initial response, tolerability, and side effects
  • Ongoing visits: Every 1-3 months depending on your treatment and goals
  • As-needed support: Between scheduled visits if you have questions or concerns

Check-ins may be asynchronous (via secure messaging) or scheduled video visits, depending on what's most helpful.

Dose Adjustments

Many medications require titration—gradually increasing or decreasing the dose based on your response. Your physician will adjust your treatment if:

  • You're tolerating the current dose well and ready to increase
  • You're experiencing side effects that suggest slowing down
  • You've reached your goal and want to maintain results
  • Your needs change due to life circumstances or health shifts

Dose adjustments are collaborative. Your physician brings medical expertise, and you bring insight into how you're feeling day-to-day.

When to Reach Out Between Visits

You don't have to wait for a scheduled check-in if you need support. Contact your care team if you experience:

  • New or worsening side effects
  • Symptoms that concern you
  • Questions about dosing or administration
  • Changes in your health status or medications
  • Difficulty affording or accessing your medication

Your physician and care team are there to help you navigate challenges as they arise.

Monitoring Your Progress

Tracking progress helps ensure your treatment is working. Depending on your program, this might include:

  • Symptom tracking: How you're feeling, energy levels, mood, appetite, etc.
  • Objective measures: Weight, body composition, blood pressure, or other metrics
  • Lab monitoring: Periodic bloodwork to track hormone levels or metabolic markers
  • Quality of life: Whether you're noticing improvements in daily function and well-being

Refills & Medication Management

Your care team will help ensure you don't run out of medication:

  • Refills are typically coordinated during check-ins
  • You'll receive reminders when it's time to reorder
  • Dose changes are reflected in your next prescription
  • You can reach out early if you need adjustments or have supply concerns

Pausing or Stopping Treatment

Not every treatment is meant to be lifelong. You may choose to pause or stop if:

  • You've reached your goal and want to maintain results with lifestyle alone
  • You're experiencing side effects that outweigh benefits
  • Life circumstances make continuing treatment difficult
  • Your physician recommends transitioning to a different approach

Your physician will help you stop safely, including any tapering or transition planning needed.

Long-Term Planning

As your treatment evolves, your physician will discuss:

  • How long you might stay on treatment
  • What maintenance looks like after achieving your goals
  • Strategies to preserve results if you decide to stop
  • When it makes sense to reassess or try different approaches

Your care plan isn't static—it adapts as you do.

What If Treatment Isn't Working?

If you're not seeing the results you hoped for, your physician will work with you to understand why and explore alternatives:

  • Adjusting the dose or timing
  • Switching to a different medication
  • Adding complementary therapies or lifestyle strategies
  • Investigating underlying factors that might be limiting response

Not every treatment works for every person, and that's okay. Your physician is there to help you find what does work.

You're not on your own. Best Balance is built around ongoing partnership. Your physician and care team remain accessible throughout your journey, making adjustments and providing support as your needs evolve.
